Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA)

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is responsible for maintaining effectiveness and efficiency of federal inspection and related services for food, animal, and plant health. The CFIA ensures that manufacturers, importers and distributors regulated by the CFIA meet all federal standards for safety, quality, quantity, composition, handling, identity, processing, packaging, and labeling. In the case of exported food, manufacturers may be required to meet the additional requirements of the importing country. The below fields are to support Canada Border Agency’s (CBSA) Single Window Initiatives.

See the table below for field definitions in the CFIA section. After you have finished filling out the fields, click Save to save the record.

A list of the fields that appear in the CFIA section:

Field	Description
New CFIA	Click New CFIA to create additional CFIA records.
CFIA Status	From the drop-down list, select claimed or disclaimed CFIA.
CFIA Description	Enter the CFIA description or click on to pre-populate the commercial description.
HS Classification	The 10-digit harmonized classification number related to the commodity. The value in this field is automatically populated from the value entered in the product and is not editable. PMC Basic tab.
AIRS OGD Extension	Enter AIRS OGD Extension code. Click website to be taken to the Automated Import Reference System (AIRS) page.
AGR Miscellaneous ID	Enter AGR Product’s miscellaneous code as defined by AIRS (Automated Import Reference System). Click on the eye glass to select.
AGR End Use Code	Enter AGR Product’s intended end use code as defined by AIRS (Automated Import Reference System). Click on the eye glass to select.
Trade Partners	Click Add New Trade Partner to add additional trade partners.
Code	Enter the trade partner ID or click on the eye glass to search for the trade partner ID.
Role	Select one of the roles from the drop-down list.
